The Freemark Abbey 2013 Viognier, with its brilliant greenish straw color, introduces the vibrant aroma of ripe banana, apple, peach, apricot, pineapple guava, passion fruit, papaya and angel food. The flavor is punctuated with ripe white peach, banana and guava. This wine is very pleasant and full with great viscosity and balance. The Freemark Abbey Viognier is a very refreshing wine that yields both complexity and a pleasurable lingering experience.

Light greenish straw in color, the Freemark Abbey 2013 Chardonnay expresses fruit aroma of pear, apple, white peach, ripe banana, kiwi, lemon-lime and tropical fruits. Adding to the complexity, the oak aging is fairly integrated adding spice, like nutmeg, toast, slight aromatic cedar and the nuance of angel food cake or marshmallow. This wine has great viscosity, depth and an intriguing long finish. The flavors are lively on the palate with pear, citrus, lemon-lime, green apple and fleshy peach. This wine shows great complexity, creaminess and elegance to compliment many foods.

There is a dark chocolate nuance with integrated spicy oak in Freemark Abbey’s 2012 Merlot. Coupled with the rich dark fruit, there is a hint of arugula adding to the complexity. The entry and finish of this wine are very smooth with integrated fruit resembling black cherry and the overall balance of fruit, body, tannin and acidity are impeccable. The velvety texture coupled with the richness of flavor provides a profile that delivers from the initial sip, one that continues on the palate for a very long finish.

The Freemark Abbey 2011 Cabernet has an opaque, youthful dark ruby color. The aromas of dark cherry, ripe Santa Rosa plum and black currant are integrated with the spicy sweetness of oak, cedar, cinnamon, and clove. With the subtle sweet aroma of dried figs, black pepper, dried herbs and dark chocolate, this wine has an abundance of complex aromas and flavors. The body is very full with a soft entry, coupled with bright dark cherry/berry flavors that develop from start to finish. With great texture and mouthfeel, this Cabernet is full bodied, rich and opulent.

The Freemark Abbey 2012 Knight’s Valley Cabernet Sauvignon color is opaque dark ruby, giving the impression of a wine with immense depth. The aroma is forward with dark fruits like blackberry, black currant and dark cherry. Amongst the fruit is a brambly damp forest floor, dark chocolate with cocoa dust, sweet oak and toast. With great depth and viscosity, dark cherry and blackberry dominate the fruit upon entry and mid palate. The fruit lingers, mingled with refined tannins and balanced acidity, providing a long, rewarding impression in the finish.
