Hors D' Oeuvres Goat Cheese Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes (Fresh Basil and Red Onions) Tostone Crusted Shrimp Skewers (Charred Citrus and Mustard Aioli)
Unusually low rainfall in late winter and early spring delivered California a much drier growing season in 2015. This, along with a lower than average yield in the vineyard, allowed vines to produce a smaller amount of high quality fruit with great concentration, beautiful skin color and balance. The Michael David Lodi Sauvignon Blanc grapes were whole cluster pressed after picking on a gentle press cycle to keep phenolics low. The fresh pressed Sauvignon Blanc juice was cold settled to get all grape solids separated to the bottom of the tank. The clean juice above the solids was then racked to another tank where the clean juice was 100% stainless steel cold fermented at 45 degrees to help retain the wine’s aromas. The wine was then fermented to dryness. Light in color, the 2015 Michael David Lodi Sauvignon Blanc oozes aromas of freshly juiced grapefruit and guava with hints of waxed pepper. This wine has an elegant, light-body style that is zesty with fresh acids and quite easy to drink.

Handcrafted from the family’s vineyard, the Michael David Lodi Chardonnay is a fusion of style. From numerous hand pickings throughout the ripening period, the winemakers produce three distinct Chardonnays that are later blended into a final wine just prior to bottling. From a crisp, fruit driven style fermented and aged in stainless steel, to a softer, more round French oak barrel fermented Chardonnay, this Chardonnay captures the best qualities of each style. The 2016 growing season was temperate with only 8 days above 100 degrees Fahrenheit and the fruit quality was impeccable. They started picking the grapes in late July and finished the last week of October, just before heavy rains hit. With so many ideal factors coming together at the peak of harvest, 2016 is a vintage to look out for! The 2016 Lodi Chardonnay is the perfect balance of fresh, pure Chardonnay fruit with compliments from French oak aging and partial malolactic fermentation. The wine is ripe with aromas of crisp green apple, light citrus and spiced peach.

Do you dare an exploration into the dark unknown? The Michael David Winery Lodi 7 Deadly Red Proprietary Blend is a sinfully delicious red wine that just might set you down a path of gluttonous pleasure. This wine is crafted from the diverse and hallowed soils of the Lodi Appellation where greedy winemakers hunger to craft fabulous wine. Unusually low rainfall in late winter and early spring delivered California a much drier growing season in 2015. This, along with a lower than average yield in the vineyard, allowed vines to produce a smaller amount of high quality fruit with great concentration, beautiful skin color and balance. This dangerously delicious wine erupts with fresh vibrant blackberry and dark cherry fruit. Aging in both French and American oak adds to the wine’s complexity showing clove spice, hints of campfire smoke and vanilla undertones. This wine is well balanced with a rich, lengthy finish.

Rapture represents the very best in Cabernet Sauvignon by Michael David Winery. Similar to 1st growth Bordeaux, Rapture is only produced on exceptional vintage years. The grapes for this wine come from Michael Phillips own vineyard, 30-year-old vines of Cabernet Sauvignon, which are rotary fermented and aged in 100% new French oak barrels. Meanwhile, David Phillips gave this wine its creative identity by using the biblical name, Rapture. The 2013 harvest started in early August and continued with the first of their red grapes in early September and later ripening varietals coming in early October. After a heavy crop in 2012, the 2013 harvest was expected to be smaller than average, but it was still a large crop across most varietals. Moderate temperatures throughout the summer allowed the fruit to develop full flavors while retaining acidity. This wine offers up an opaque purple color and a beautiful nose of blackberry liqueur intermixed with licorice, graphite and vanilla. It is spicy and rich, with oodles of cassis fruit, full-bodied opulence and a long, heady finish with velvety tannins. This wine earned 92+ points from Robert Parker. With the limited production of this wine, “Don’t be left behind!”
