Frank Family 2008 Napa Valley Chardonnay
Seafood Course Cast Iron Pan Seared Rare Tuna Roasted Cherry And Pinot Reduction, Grilled White And Green Asparagus
This Pinot Noir is sourced from the Frank Family’s 138- acre Lewis Vineyard, located in the heart of Napa Carneros, near the shores of San Pablo Bay. Moderate reddish-purple hue in the glass. Very shy nose offering demure dark fruit aromas with a combination of brier, pine and oak. Lovely core of black cherries and blackberries with the oak and pine showing up again on the palate. An earthy meatiness is evident as well that reflects the clay loam soils typical of Carneros Pinot. Light to medium in weight, the fruit flavors are flat-out delicious and the dusty tannins and bright acidity add to the appeal. Definitely worth a look from a producer not known for Pinot Noir. The winemaker is Todd Graff and this 14.5% alc. Pinot is aged 12 months in 35% new and 65% 1-year old and 2-year old French oak barrels.
Frank Family 2009 Carneros Pinot Noir
Beef Course Pepper Crusted New York Strip Steak Crispy Fried Salt And Pepper Potatoes, Zinfandel, Rosemary And Shallot Butter With Spicy Baby Arugula
An award winning Napa Valley that invites aromas of juicy black cherry, raspberry and a touch of cinnamon. Layered palate flavors are of blackberry pie, spice cake and grilled figs. Rounding out the taste is a rich and complex effort of sweet Asian spice and hints of white-pepper. This wine has 84% Zinfandel, and 16% Petite Sirah, with only 5,800 cases produced has a 15% alcohol content, and is aged 18 months in 75% new French Oak. "Rich and extravagant, but that's part of the appeal, offering aromas of black cherry and mocha-tinged oak, with plush but complex flavors of blackberry cobbler, cinnamon and zesty spice. Drink now through 2016”. 92 points from Wine Spectator (April 18, 2011). "The preferred of the two deep and concentrated Zinfandels from Frank Family, this one features complex, briary and berryish fruit buttressed by hints of caramel and strawberry preserves. It is full on the palate, and supple to start with a firm underside that will hold it in good stead for years to come as its fruit-driven flavors mature and its tannins soften. This one skirts the edge of being overdone but does not cross the line." 91 points and two stars from the Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine, as well as 95 pts & Best of Class California State Fair Wine Competition.

The aromas are brimming with sweet blackberries, Tahitian vanilla, chocolate dusted espresso beans and spiced cake with raspberry coulis. As further layers emerge; notes of aniseed, sage browned butter, and cigar box come forward. These classic aromas are harmoniously balanced by a well structured mouthfeel of velvety tannins that are wonderfully polished yet youthful with lasting grip. The dense dark plum/purple-tinged 2007 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. The fragrant bouquet of blueberries and flowers is followed by admirable complexity, sweet tannins, a medium to full-bodied, graceful mouthfeel and no hard edges.
